An ode to an era built on perseverance and ingenuity, this limited-edition Levi’s Vintage Clothing collection celebrates the beauty in flaws and non-uniformity.
Called Perfect Imperfections, every jean will be a unique creation.
Each of the five versions represents the hodgepodge of inconsistencies found on Levi’s jeans during the war.
You’ll notice things like pockets missing red tabs, pockets with extra red tabs, and sundries in a range of materials, some branded and some not.
Fabric pocketing on each jean will also be different, representing the random scraps of fabric used on the original 1940s 501s.
And, since thread was rationed during the war, all of the original 1940s Levi’s jeans had printed arcuate stitching on the back pockets.
We recreated those printed arcuates for the Perfect Imperfections collection, though some pairs will have regular arcuates, some will have arcuates that are crooked, misshapen, or upside down, and some will have no arcuates at all.
We made each jean in the collection in limited quantities, with 101 pairs of the first version and just 100 of the rest―for a total of 501 pairs in the entire world.
And because we crafted them using the rest of the ultra-rare Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1940s Cone Mills White Oak denim, these jeans are the last of their kind.
A reproduction of a pair of jeans from 1944
